There is no idiot- proof formula for a happy life, even if some self-help books would have you believe such a thing exists. Neither can you plan every detail of a happy life – after all, happiness is often found in the most unexpected places. Nevertheless, an American blogger has been trying just that: to live a happy life by minutely following the advice of US Queen of Talk Oprah.

Due to the reach of Oprah’s empire, that advice encompasses diet, fashion, design, literature and film tips, as well as relationship advice and wellness-psychobabble. Imagine someone who knows the right diet, the inspiring novel, the perfect outfit and the correct relationship advice for every situation and serves it all up (with a generous helping of inspirational platitudes) on her website, her TV show, her radio show and in her magazine.

The blogger reads the Oprah Magazine and website and watches the Oprah Show. Whenever Oprah says “do this”, “buy that” or “read that”, she does. Her experiences are detailed at Living Oprah. (more…)

When we talk about love, we usually mean romantic love. But obviously love can be many other things. Sometimes it’s just a fascination with a person. And this week’s love quote is even more fitting because it’s from a man we love (or should we say are fascinated with):

If you want to know how to pick up women, you might as well let the coolest man on television explain it to you – a man whose mere presence makes ladies go weak at the knees, who smokes like a chimney and drinks like a sailor, but still looks as good in a tailored suit as he does in his golfing slacks.

If you have no idea who we’re on about, you probably don’t tend to obsessivly follow US TV series on blogs, youtube and twitter before they’re even on European TV. Your loss – if you did, you’d know that Don Draper from Mad Men ist he coolest man on Television.

Go ahead, take notes – you can definitely learn something from him!

Men can take their wife’s name in marriage, if they wish to do so. If – very few men actually choose to take their wife’s name. Or do you know anyone who has? Well, there you go!

It’s another one of those seemingly insignificant issues that shows up how far from gender equality we really are. Sure, it’s not that big a deal who takes which name. It’s just a name! But names are loaded with meaning – family tradition, memories, social ties play into the true meaning of names. News About Love, Sex and Relationships as Podcast

For all those who don’t want to read news about love, sex and relationships, but prefer to listen to them, we’ve discovered a podcast that covers all kinds of news about love, sex and relationships, in German, English and Spanish.

It’s obviously a one-stop-shop, as the Sexy Minutes, the Sexy Minutos and die Sexy Minuten are all presented by the same voice (in not quite accent-free German/English, which sounds quite charming).

The production values are a little amateurish, but the topics tend to be well selected and amusingly presented, so we’ll listen in every now and again to find out the latest news about love, sex and relationships.

Is Men’s Fear of Commitment Genetic?

There are plenty of men who show a certain fear of commitment until they are mature enough for a serious relationship (or at least over the fear of missing out on something by not being single). Other men, however, cling on to that fear of commitment for dear life, refusing to “be tied down” by mere women.
