Scary Love Quotation

Friday, October 31st, 2008

A new love quotation, slightly adapted to the scary day.

Love is like Halloween: unpredictable, a little scary,
but when the hard part is over, you realize how much you love it.

In the Name of Love

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Men can take their wife’s name in marriage, if they wish to do so. If – very few men actually choose to take their wife’s name. Or do you know anyone who has? Well, there you go!

It’s another one of those seemingly insignificant issues that shows up how far from gender equality we really are. Sure, it’s not that big a deal who takes which name. It’s just a name! But names are loaded with meaning – family tradition, memories, social ties play into the true meaning of names. You realise what’s really in a name when you hear from men who have taken their wife’s name. This story about a man who decided to take his wife’s name is a real eye opener! (more…)

News About Love, Sex and Relationships as Podcast

Monday, October 27th, 2008

For all those who don’t want to read news about love, sex and relationships, but prefer to listen to them, we’ve discovered a podcast that covers all kinds of news about love, sex and relationships, in German, English and Spanish.

It’s obviously a one-stop-shop, as the Sexy Minutes, the Sexy Minutos and die Sexy Minuten are all presented by the same voice (in not quite accent-free German/English, which sounds quite charming).

The production values are a little amateurish, but the topics tend to be well selected and amusingly presented, so we’ll listen in every now and again to find out the latest news about love, sex and relationships.

Carefree Love Quotation

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Love quotes are found in the most unexpected places. The American sports pro Satchel Paige wasn’t just an excellent baseballer, but a veritable quotation machine. This love quotation proves that professional sports and wit are not mutually exclusive.

“Work like you don’t need the money. Love like you’ve never been hurt. Dance like nobody’s watching.”

- Satchel Paige

Is Men’s Fear of Commitment Genetic?

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

There are plenty of men who show a certain fear of commitment until they are mature enough for a serious relationship (or at least over the fear of missing out on something by not being single). Other men, however, cling on to that fear of commitment for dear life, refusing to “be tied down” by mere women.

A Swedish study indicates that the latter type of fear of commitment could be genetic. (more…)

Love Rap Quote

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

We’ve known since Dry your Eyes that rapper Mike Skinner, aka The Streets, has a soft side. This rap love quote is further proof:

“I came to this world with nothing / And I leave with nothing but love”

- The Streets

Singles - the Documentary

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Is it emancipation, the pressures of the working world, or people’s high standards? Why are there so many singles today? “Single - a documentary film” tries to get to the bottom of these questions.

We think the issue is as simple or complex, as obvious or strange as each individual single’s life. Ask any singles you know, and each one will give you different reasons for being single.

But despite all the complexity, life has become a lot simpler for singles nowadays, thanks to the internet. Maybe things just used to be simpler because the options were limited?

Who Wins in Relationship Arguments?

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Have you ever been in a relationship? Then you’ve probably been in a relationship argument. It happens in the best of relationships. Which of the following strategies would you consider suitable for the de-escalation of a relationship argument?

A) Try to see things from your partner’s point of view and find a compromise.
B) Talk it through and agree to disagree – arguments can never be avoided completely.
C) Scream as loudly as possible. Whoever loses their voice first, loses the argument.
D) Get an outsider’s opinion. Ideally, let complete strangers decide „who’s right.“

Dr. Seussian Love Quote

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Dr. Seuss is infinitely quotable, as anyone who read him as a child (or to a child) knows. But we had no idea he also wrote charming love quotes!

You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.

- Dr. Seuss

How Much Do You Pay for Sex?

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Do these people pay for sex, too? When asked How much do you pay for sex? most readers would probably reply: I don’t pay for sex! Not true, says online magazine nerve, which asked 9 singles and non-singles to document their spendings on sex - in the widest sense.

The cost count includes everything that is even vaguely tied to sex. So we’re not really talking about sex for sale, just the cost of sexual relations, even if those relations are not directly associated with financial transactions.

When you count it that way, it really adds up – one of the single women pays almost 1000 Dollars “for Sex” - but if you look closely at the numbers, that sum gets put into perspective. (more…)
